One of the typical questions asked by website owners is: “I’m getting a lot of hits but no product sales – what is going on?” This article will provide you with some ideas on how you can tackle this issue.
Your Product
The very first area to evaluate may be the item or service which you are providing. Does a marketplace exist for it? To answer this question you have to discover whether or not comparable items are being sold on the web effectively. If not, you might have to rethink your Internet strategy. If other people are selling a comparable item successfully, then this would usually confirm that there’s a marketplace for your item.
Next, look at the method and costs currently being used by your competition. How do you measure up? Why should your website visitors purchase from you instead of one of your respective competitors? Addressing these issues will supply you with useful info you are able to use to enhance your circumstances and generate much more product sales.
Also, take a crucial look at your item quality. Does it live up to the promises you’re making on your internet pages? If not, improve your item to ensure that it does or change your internet web page to become much more truthful about it.
Provide Solutions
Your website visitors are searching for any answer to a problem. Do you recognize what difficulties your visitors are searching for solutions to? Does your internet website display how your item will solve your visitor’s problem? You’ll have to put yourself into your visitor’s shoes to better understand what they’re looking for to ensure that you are able to supply the answer they require.
One method to better understand your website visitors would be to keep track of where your visitors are coming from. If they’re coming from the search engines, understanding what search terms they’re utilizing can supply some clues. You might discover some surprises whenever you evaluate this info about your website.
As soon as you understand the issue your visitors want solved, change your internet pages to display that the item will supply the answer they require.
Website Design
Your website must appear like it’s a professional internet website instead of an amateur home web page. The style must be consistent from web page to web page and it must be simple to navigate. Contact details such as physical address, phone numbers and email address have to be shown.
Graphics have to be minimized to make sure that your web page downloads rapidly. Also, make sure that your internet host offers a quick connection for the Internet. Most individuals won’t wait for any web page that takes a lengthy time to download. They’ll just move on to your competitor.
Make it simple to purchase. I recall discovering data recently that indicated that a big quantity of individuals abandon an internet website in the middle of the purchase process. A typical cause for this really is that the purchase process is way too time consuming and complex. Make yours basic and fast and you’ll lose fewer product sales.
Make sure that your internet web page has a powerful headline that grabs your website visitors and makes them wish to read much more. Your headline ought to in effect say “You have this issue, here is the solution”. Your internet website ought to then demonstrate that you really comprehend the issue and that you could actually supply the answer.
Testimonials and Guarantees
Testimonials and guarantees can have a large impact on the level of product sales. On the internet, a key priority would be to develop credibility. The typical techniques utilized are having a privacy statement, publishing a newsletter, publishing testimonials from satisfied clients and supplying a powerful guarantee.
Take each and every chance to gather reviews from your clients about how your item has helped them. Get their permission to distribute these reviews as testimonies. If need be, supply them with a gift for giving you their permission to publish their reviews. A way of obtaining reviews is really a consumer feedback survey. This could be utilized for the purpose of gaining testimonies as well as looking for methods to improve your item or develop extra items your clients might require.
A powerful guarantee will supply your visitor with greater confidence to buy your item. Attempt to make your guarantee basic and without having too many conditions. Usually honor your guarantee without having question or delay.
Conclusion
Obtaining a lot of hits for your internet website is really a very positive scenario to be in. By applying some of the hints provided in this article, you can actually convert these site visitors into being your clients.

These are a lot of good points. I think it is a good idea to evaluate my website and make sure things are contributing to better sales rather than slow things down.

Hi Tim, what a great, on purpose post. When I first got in to this industry I really thought that all traffic would do the trick. It doesn’t take long for the frustration to set when you see high hit rates but no other activity.
These are tips that are common to all businesses and are the foundation of good marketing.
Thanks again.

GREAT article Tim… chock full of EXCELLENT advice!
When we have all the “basics” done correctly, as you’ve suggested here, it certainly is going to add to our conversions. If we’re not getting the results we want, we really do need to look at modifying our strategies to encompass at least some solid advice like you’ve outlined…
Once they get on our list, if we develop that genuine rapport that’s so critical to ANY good relationship, we’ll be on a roll!

Great tips there Tim,
I like how you simplify what is needed for the new bloggers out there. I am sure that this post has helped many and will help many more to come.
Retweeted this one for sure! Great content

This is what all bloggers and internet marketers want to know, Tim, and what we must hear AND implement.
I think I’ll start soliciting testimonials from other marketers and bloggers I work with – and reciprocate of course. Should be a big add-on to my own blog.
Thanks for the good ideas, Tim.

Hi Tim this is really interesting. I’ve been thinking my website was missing a little something although it has served me well in the past. Then I came across this in your post “Make sure that your internet web page has a powerful headline that grabs your website visitors and makes them wish to read much more. Your headline ought to in effect say “You have this issue, here is the solution”.”
Sounds simple but I’m going to work on that on my site. Thanks so much for the tip.

Hey Tim, nice post. My approach to this problem is slightly different. I believe that it does not matter if there are others already out there. As long as you solve a problem you should be able to find a buyer. It is a matter of making the buyer find you. I believe that this can be achieved through testing. Testing will give you the answers and gets you to improve your bottom line.

Excellent points Tim.
I need to read through it over again.
Thanks for sharing.

Great advice, Tim. Someone told me once, that you don’t need to recreate the wheel but have a wheel that works 10% better than everyone elses. Your strategies will enable us all to do that.
Thank you

It is a very nice and informative article. I just spent thousands of dollars, it is important to let the website designing and marketing to the professional if you are really seriously about getting leads!

Hi Tim,
You point out some great pointers. What I run into are many people just don’t understand what it takes to actually create a Blog (other than a Blogger or other free blog site). What I enjoy providing is a complete tech-free WordPress blog with some very advanced plugins and we even provide video and live webinars walking our members through the use of each of these plugins to help them learn the ‘tech’ side of blogging as well as the ‘sales’ aspect.

Hello Tim
Excellent tips and your blog is an great example of applying those tips.

Tim this is some great information, anyone who wants to monetize their blog should read this post. I would like to add to the website design area of you post. You mention the style must be consistent and I agree 100%, I did some extensive testing in this area, I found if the buy page has the same look and feel as the actual website conversions increased for me by 200%.
What exactly does this mean. If you take your prospect away from your site to a third party payment processor you will lose customers. I think some people feel you are not as credible if you can’t process payment on your own site.

Tim,
Great info in here! I’ve been making a living online now for 10 years and am always amazed when people think they just launch any ‘ol blog or site and think they’ll start making money. It isn’t so. Reading your post reminds me of where I was many years ago, so I know for sure any newbie’s or even experienced online entrepreneurs will benefit from it.

Hi Tim. Your article hit upon many great points. It is usually never one thing that keeps a site from being an effective sales generator, but instead many small details. Testimonials are particularly effective in getting unsure customers to sign on or buy. Thanks, Scott Pollov

Tim, You provided some really good tips here. What we all want is more sales. Sometimes people do get alot of traffic to their site, but don’t convert that traffic into sales. I think if one were to implement these strategies you talk about here, they will see some positive results! Thanks for the useful information! ~Joseph McDevitt

Hey Tim,
This is great and very useful information. Yes, we all want to have tons of visitors to our sites but bottom line is that we want to see the desired results.
I especially like your suggestions about keeping graphics to a minimum, and offering a guarantee. I know that personally, if a page is taking too long to load I’m out of there, and I’m always much more likely to make a purchase when I know there’s a guarantee.
Thanks for this well thought out post, it will help many of us!
28. September 2010 at 2:00 am
Tim,
What a valuable reminder to make sure I am offering my visitors something that they want and are looking for. I have not had the time to do any testing but I keep observing what other people, like your, put on their web pages. it is a gradually evolving process of discovery. Posts like yours are just so helpful. Thank you.
